About Hundred Oaks

Our Story

We moved to Paros in 2017. Soon after, overwhelmed by the waste crisis on the island, Stella started Sustainable Living Paros, a space for sharing local, low-waste tips. That work led to a collaboration with Common Seas / Clean Blue Paros, where we created the #DrinkTapWater campaign—two years of research and resource-building to help people trust the tap-water network.

With that chapter complete, we returned to our original dream: creating a rich, biodiverse haven where nature can thrive and grow food. Inspired by several permaculture courses, we loved the idea to work with nature rather than against it, to value diversity, and regenerate a landscape.

In December 2020, we began transforming a bare, windy field into a young food forest, guided by regenerative practices. The journey hasn’t been without challenges, but watching this mini-forest take root has been profoundly exciting and humbling.

Our Vision

Hundred Oaks is our response to the challenges of our time — to climate change, soil depletion, the overuse of chemicals, and the loss of biodiversity and wildlife.

Through regenerative design and observation, we aim to restore life to the soil, create habitat for pollinators and animals, and cultivate resilience for the years to come.

Our mission is to grow a self-sustaining ecosystem that restores biodiversity, enriches the soil, supports wildlife, and nourishes us with food and beauty. We hope to make a small difference on a small piece of land
and demonstrate that regeneration can work even in difficult conditions, and to inspire others to reconnect with the land and natural cycles.

The Landscape

In a semi-arid Mediterranean environment, we are growing a diverse mix of native plants, fruit trees, herbs, and wild flora.

Each species plays a role — from deep-rooted pioneers that stabilize the soil to flowering plants that attract pollinators and support wildlife.

Collaboration

We are fortunate to work with Elena Symeonidou, a good friend, permaculture designer and teacher, whose vision and expertise help shape the design, plant selection, and long-term resilience of the forest.
We’re continuously learning with her and also from observing the land change, adapting, and experimenting with regenerative methods suited to the Cycladic landscape.

Learning & Sharing

Beyond cultivating the forest, we plan to host workshops and courses that invite people from all backgrounds to explore regenerative practices and deepen their connection with nature.

Hundred Oaks aims to become a living classroom, where ideas, skills, and inspiration can take root — just like the forest itself.
